MBA Admissions Round-Up

I will resume providing tips on the 2008 MBA essays and applications next week. I know several schools have released their 2008 applications, but there have also been several informative posts and articles that have come out in the last week, and I decided to do a brief survey for today.
I highly recommend Dee Leopold's blog. Dee is the Managing Director, Admissions and Financial Aid at Harvard Business School. She really opens a window into Harvard and its admissions process through her blog. I particularly recommend her posts on Leadership dated July 10 and Update from Dee dated August 1. (Unfortunately I couldn't find the permalinks so I can't link to these specific posts.)
Dean Bruner of Darden is also writing "Dean Bruner's Blog," an enlightening blog that should be on every Darden applicant's reading list. For starters, check out "Hard Work", "In What Ways Is Darden Demanding?", and "Visa Situation for Darden's International Students".
Linda Meehan, Columbia's assistant dean and executive director for MBA admissions and financial aid, will be the featured guest on a Businessweek chat on Monday Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. EDT. 2007 CBS graduate Lauren Franks will join her. Both will be available to take your questions. This past spring I visited Columbia, attended a class, spoke with CBS students, and met with Linda Meehan. If our discussion is any indication, the BW chat should be fun and informative. On one hand Linda is an unabashed evangelist for Columbia, and on the other she answers questions straight and true. If you are interested in CBS and can't attend the chat, make sure you read the transcript.
